We Design Modern Communities To Help Young Adults Thrive
Our Vision
Proper Living was launched in 2021 to advance the well-being of young adults. With six developments in Cape Town already within the suburbs of Woodstock, Observatory, Rondebosch & Mowbray, these are just a taste of what’s to come for the Proper Living community.
Our founders, Caspar Lee and Benji Schaffer, are young and dynamic entrepreneurs who believe that students and young professionals need the right environment to thrive, and they plan on giving them just that.
Proper Living is built on three core principles: next-level security, smart design, and a warm community vibe. In fact, we took a lot of inspiration from a special little South African bird: The Sociable Weaver.
The Concept
These little guys inspired many elements of Proper Living, including our logo. Endemic to Southern Africa, Namibia and Botswana, Sociable Weavers build large community nests which they maintain throughout the year. Epic in size and instantly recognisable, the nests resemble bustling apartment blocks and inspire a sense of community. Just like us.

Born in England, raised in South Africa, Caspar has over 7 million subscribers on YouTube, was named in Forbes 30 Under 30 and once shot under 100 on a golf course.
Benji Schaffer
"I love being part of a community and helping out where I can."
Born and raised in Cape Town, Benji co-founded his first company at 16, is a volunteer paramedic and Law Enforcement Reservist. Benji is also a scratch golfer and can't understand why Caspar is so bad at the sport.

**Only available for the 6 on Nansen famToo bad, Eskom. We have a serious generator that keeps our security systems, lighting and Wi-Fi going in a power outage. Again, our Wi-Fi is tops, so you’re going to want that on.

- Incident ReportingWe’ve built in smart software that allows you to report any issues you have directly to those who can help you out.
- “Watch Me Walk In Safely” FunctionTap to request one of our on-duty security guards to escort you safely through our doors. This is ideal for when you’re being dropped off after a jol or have to walk home.
- Contact Building ManagementWe'll put you in direct contact with building management if you have an issue. It’s a logical way to streamline complaints and concerns. That said, if you’re experiencing an existential crisis, rather call Mom.
